ESP Storage for Tundra: The perfect solution?

ESP Storage for Tundra: The perfect solution?

With every vehicle I have ever owned, there are always some things that just don't make sense. When I decided to buy a Tundra, my first stop was the Toyota website, then the dealership to feel and touch.

After that it was straight to the forums to hear the real, the good and the bad. As always, you have to sort out real world problems from perceived problems. In the case of inside storage (or lack thereof) made the “real world problem,” list.

The one solution that popped up immediately was the storage system created by the folks at ESP. It seemed, they came up with what looked like a factory solution for additional storage. I read through all the threads and decided to add this to my build list.

At first glance it could intimidate you by just thinking about having to cut the carpet and foam support to install it. However, after I saw how easily they explained it and also included a template, it didn’t seem like it was that big of a project. The success rate for the average joe should be 100%. You can also refer to the helpful video on their website along with phone support.

The box arrived fully protected, with the template, printed right on the outside.

The quality of the construction was obvious. Aluminum for strength and weight saving, powder coated, keys for each of the three locks (although they are all keyed the same) which means you have extras. By following the directions it took about 1.5 hours, and I took my time.

The doors work great and the entire system looks like it should have come from the factory. The (2) outside compartments, are identical in size while the one in the middle is slightly larger.

I set up the compartment behind the drivers side for my lockable carry compartment. There is enough room to put all the essentials in there, along with any paperwork you desire to include.

The passenger side compartment is set up for first aid. This will keep it out of sight and out of the harsh elements, like sun. The middle compartment is set up for specific recovery equipment that would otherwise be stowed and a little more difficult to access.

Everyone will have a different method and reason for setting up the specific compartments, so YMMV. The bonus? I had already begun thinking about getting a lock box for my carry weapon and this will also serve the purpose of stowing any other valuables that would otherwise be left in the center console, or just when you are getting the Tundra serviced, washed or at the valet.

They also make a budget system that is just set up as bins. Suitable for stowing stuff you want to keep from flopping around your cab. The seats rest directly above in the closed position.

My Artica Tundra is built for function but I still demand the correct form to go with it. The ESP storage system hits it out of the park, in my opinion.

They also make a Prodigy brake controller panel that also fits the Tundra well.
ESP Truck accessories is also creating these type of systems for other platforms that will most definitely fit the function and quality you expect. Check with them and make a request for your specific application.

If you seem to have all the little stuff sliding around your rear seat area and cannot find a proper way to secure all the important valuable, head over to the link provided. You won’t be disappointed and will soon realize, “this is what is missing”. Just look at the final results, with the seats down. Factory look and much better function.
